It requires effort to examine the "interior" of a subject...to view the "cover" is to briefly glance at what "appears" to be there, with no further requirements if you don't like the "artwork" on the cover. People are generally lazy & cautious about seeing what's really "under the hood"...too much emotional "risk"

Because when something is new or different, people tend to see only the "cover". Their prejudice keeps them from caring about the "contents".

Because people like to rush to judgment rather than getting to know someone & finding out what a person's really like. There's a lot of narrow-minded people in this world.

Maybe for them the looks matter more than the real content. Everyone judges a particular thing by its looks.
