The English ALWAYS have their eggs 'sunny side up' - it's our way of cooking a fried egg - slide a raw egg into a pan that contains a little heated fat, baste this fat over the egg white until it is set - then baste a little of the hot fat over the yolk until a thin skin is formed.

Then DIP YOUR BREAD! ;oP

(best served with 2 rashers of unsmoked rindless back bacon, 1 sausage, a cup of baked beans, half a grilled tomato and 1 or 2 slices of fried black pudding - oh and two slices of toast with butter and a mug of tea..............belch)

Yes it's a plain fried egg - with the yellow yolk (sunny) side up.

Sometimes people flip the egg over for a couple of seconds. The yolk is still runny. When the egg has been flipped it's called "over easy."

Some people also call it SINGLE FRY and DOUBLE FRY. Sunny Side Up is the 1st type - where you break the egg and simply fry it in a frying pan - without needing to flip it over. Once it is done, the Yolk (yellow part) will be in the middle of the White (albumen) and it will still be liquid.

It means that the egg hasn't been turned over, but the bacon grease or whatever it's frying in has been "splashed" on the eggwhites with a spatula to cook them and the yoke is still soft.

Over easy means the egg has been turned over once, but the yoke is still soft.

It is an egg fried as usual, with the yellow face up.
