i went in April for spring break with my friends and it was awesome! we went to the island of Oahu, Waikiki in Honolulu. the weather was real nice, it was PERFECT!!!
the dress there was really laid back which i loved. it was cool to see people walking around in flip-flops, a t-shirt and some shorts. i'ts how i dressed while i was there. a lot of walking we did.
we went to this International Market there near our hotel which is a MUST to visit if u go to Waikiki. the Market has amazing souveniers and real pearls that u can pick and buy...their pretty pricey though.
i didnt' encounter any problems while i was there. there is always an ABC store around nearly EVERY corner. it's sort of like a Walgreens. they were extremely convenient!
we went on a catermeran ride out on the ocean which was amazing because the ocean water was sooo blue!!!
we went to a Luau at Paradise Cove which was my most wonderful hawaiian experience ever!!! lots of DELICIOUS food, a real pig was roasted which was awesome! and then dancing. me and my friends made hand-made leis which was neat! using real flowers and leaves. we made leis for our ankles, wrists, for our neck and one to wear on our head. it was cool becauase if you wear a flower on your right ear, it gives the message that your single, and if you wear it on your left ear, it means your taken. or on our wrist or ankle. i will definately go again.

I went to Hawaii for the first time last year and would really recommend it as a wonderful place to visit. We stayed on the Big Island & loved it. It's pretty quiet & laid back there. There are also several excellent snorkeling beaches there and a lot of different things to see and do. After visiting, I would move there in a heartbeat, although there would be a few downsides to living there. First, a lot of things are more expensive in Hawaii than in the US (e.g. milk, eggs, gasoline, etc.) and rents/property values are pretty high. So, you'd want to make sure you could make enough money there to live at whatever level you want.

Was there for two years while in the Navy. Wouldn't want to live there. But if you like beaches and ocean and great sites, then it is fun to visit. Make sure you go with at least a small group of people for support. While an American state, the locals sometimes take advantage of white people.

PS: I've never seen a sea turtle on Waikiki beach, or in the waters off of it. In fact, that is the worse beach on Oahu because it is right on the main tourist strip, there is no good snorkeling there, and the waves are very small - they are only good for learning to surf. If you want killer body board waves, go to Sandy beach, or any other beach up the coast will be less crowded and have better waves.

I visited Maui in November 2004. It was amazing! If you enjoy snorkeling or any water activities, it's an awesome place to go. There are also a lot of really great places to explore on land. I do recommend looking at Trip Advisor.com before booking a vacation. Check out other people's experiences with hotels or condos is a good safe bet. I've heard that some can be horrible. The only downside of the trip was that we ran into some cockroaches that looked big enough to saddle up and ride! I certainly wouldn't want to find any in my hotel room. Luckily we had an awesome ocean view condo with no bug problems at all.

yep... been there seven times- Hawaii, Oahu, Kauai, Maui. It is an amazing place... I believe the correct phrase would be a "divine" place. It is a fantastic place to visit atleast once in your life. As for living there, the cost of living can be very high, but if you love it there, the cost will be worth it millions of times over. Enjoy!

Live in Oahu, if you like activities go to this island, if you like the quiet atmosphere go to Kauai or Big Island, Honolulu is very touristy, good beaches. north Shore is the best though for surfing and waves.

Hawaii is one of my favorite places to go. Yes it's crowded but there are places to get away from them if you need space. I love Wakiki beach and last time I went I saw Adam Sandler!

If you ever get to go, make sure you try a Luau. I know they are very touristy, but that's what you'll be! Have fun!

Born and raised on Oahu...
Very awsome place to grow up as a kid and to retire.

But very bad place to make $$$$.

Cost of living is somewhat similar to the Bay Area of Northern California. But the pay you get is just peanuts...
