Hobo is a term that refers to certain wandering homeless people, particularly those who make a habit of freighthopping. The iconic image of a hobo is that of a downtrodden, shabbily-dressed and perhaps drunken male, one that was solidified in American culture during the Great Depression. Hobos are often depicted carrying a bindle.

The hobo imagery has been employed by entertainers to create wildly succesful characters in the past, most famously Emmett Kelly's "Weary Willy" and Red Skelton's "Freddy the Freeloader".

It's an outdated term for a homeless person; decades ago a hobo was a person who traveled from place to place by hopping the freight trains and staying on the move. They usually formed loose 'family groups' and traveled together for protection and often had temporary quarters under bridges and in the freight yards.

I don't think it's nice to call people who are homeless 'hobos' you don't know excactly why they have no home. It could be that a hurricane messed up their home and now they don't have any money to buy food or another house. 'Hobos' are homeles people. Also, everytime I see a person without no place to live, I give them at least $2.00. You should do it too.

It is a very outdated and insensitive term for a homeless person. traditionally the word hobo implies a travelling homeless person.

well, a hobo is a homeless person, literally. the term used to be applied to unemployed citizens who hitched rides on railcars, travelling from place to place searching for work. they were also called tramps. now we call them bums. there ye go, now out with me two points! korean ginseng is available at health food stores, of course, but also wal-mart, or your grocery store on the vitamin/mineral supplement aisle.
