It could be a stage, but some people stay in this sort of thing for life. The former prime minister of the UK, John Major, has the reputation of being the only person ever to run away from the circus to become an accountant.

He has a job... thats progress. Hopefully he will get bored of it or want more cash.
On the ohter hand he may have found a sort of family of friends with this group which is healthier then the back stabbing office world and he gets to travel.
Maybe get him to study whilst he does it. Maybe something related like lighting or how about an electrician?
Carpentry, or special effects, pyrotechnics... All of which could benefit the show and allow him to work outside which could also bring in money for the show...
If he enjoys it he puts his heart into it... so work with it into something better, that gives him independance and as said could help him expand the magic business

Just a stage he is going through, but just remember he has a job like you wanted and he is getting practice in working with others and hopefully being on time for work.

Come on! Let him try this for a year or so.
Be glad that your son finally have gotten a job and can support himself. Do you actually think that he is going to work as a "disappearing person" his whole life? I bet he´ll find out that a "traveling" job isn´t that fun and after a year...

First of all how old is your son, if he is barely a teenager , then obviously this job is a fun job and nothing more. Also, you may want to try to ask him what he wants to do with his life and where he wants to be in ten years. If he has any practical goals, then provide him the support he needs to pursue his dreams and maybe he will get a real job.

It depends. How old is your son? If he's over 21, it doesn't seem that he willing to "grow up" and he's just doing this to get you off his back about a job. Once he tires of this act, he will be home and again you will have to get on him about a job.
However, if he's until 21, he's probably just taking some time from school. Trying to "find" himself. Don't worry about it too much. But if he starts taking about becoming a magician, I would interfere and try to get him back to reality.

I think since he has not been successful in getting a job, he may be only trying to keep himself busy for a while.
Once he gets a good job, he will quit the present one.

It's just a stage. And he goes through it.
There's nothing to worry about unless the phantom of the opera lives under the stage.

Hmmm, everyone's treating this as serious, but I have the sinking suspicion that this is just a clever pun ... if it is serious, leave him be, he'll figure it out himself. And in the meantime he seems to be having fun going through stages.
