Snoring is not a joke, and it's not just a nuisance. And surgery has a rather poor success rate. Snoring is often a symptom of a serious disorder called sleep apnea. This can damage your heart and even kill you. You need to go to a sleep clinic without delay - ask your doctor to refer you. In most cases apnea can be 100% eliminated by the use of a night breathing machine called a CPAP. It might take a night or two to get used to it, but then you will not only not snore AT ALL anymore, you will feel much better during the day, too. Please do not delay in seeing a sleep specialist - it's very important! Contrary to what many people believe, you do NOT have to be overweight to have sleep apnea.

A person must not sleep straight but on any of the side. Avoid using more than one pillow as breathing becomes difficult if the head is on height.
If snoring is due to heavyness of the body then the person must lose weight. It will cure snoring and many other ailments like morning headache. A BIG "NO" for operation or medication. Visit a docter for alternate remedies.

I know people will take me as an ignorant person, but I will tell you about my experience.
I had a boyfriend that used to snore very much. At the beginning, I didn't feel comfortable of complaining to him about that because I knew wasn't his thought. One night, I was exhausted, and there was him again, snoring...than I decided I had to do something about it...I woke him up, and told him he was snoring, and I couldn't sleep, he apologized and we got back to sleep....after while, there was him again, snoring....from that day and until he stop to snore, I started to kick him (not hard) every time he started to snore, than he used to wake up and sleep back, if he restarting to snore I would kick him again...after some months doing this, he became vigilant about snoring and stopped it....we stayed together for years, and he never got to snore again.
Some people snore because they are fat or have heart problems, if those aren't the reasons of your snoring, try to do what I did.
Has studies that shows snoring linked with heart desease.
So, I think is better have some little's kick during the night to stop snoring than be in risk of heart desease.
I don't know any medication for snoring, but I believe it might have some, before you take any medication for snoring, if is the case, I suggest you to look for a doctor to check the reson's of your snoring.

Snoring has been linked to weight and If you are overweight, you will snore no matter what. Also if you have breathing problems like asthma, you will be more likely to snore.
