Depends on the time period you're trying to duplicate. The furniture, textiles and accessories went thru fads in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s just as it does now. To truly create a retro look, first decide which decade you want and that will narrow down furniture style, etc considerably.

The look ( I think ) you're referring to is called "Urban Sheek" and is the hottest trend going right now, so peices are available almost anywhere! (you're lucky!) Look up that term on a serch engine to get some ideas of what the look is about and find the furniture you like. Now, when ready to buy, it sounds silly, bu try Target! They have quite a number of Urban Sheek furnishing AND accessories with good price points! If your budget allows, u can try more sophistcated stores, but this style is VERY trendy right now, and your tastes may change in 5 years, so, I'd start at target! (good quality-fair prices)

A great internet source for retro furnishings is http://www.pastense.com/. While some of their stuff is expensive, it is filled with great ideas. Check your local yellow pages for flea markets, retro stores, and antique shops. Good luck.

antique wood is the best option, something like chattai or so will also look good.. as in some chairs or swing or something of that sort.
