I dont think so... U can legally wed four wives in Sunni tradition though... I dont know what the deal is with Shias... Four wives max. that is and this too is not encouraged. Quran seems to advocate one, though it does not ban the possibility of four especially if numbers of men have gotten reduced due to war or such. You are supposed to treat all of them equally, failing which you can be prosecuted.
One controversial practice i know among Shias is 'Muttah' which is some kind of a temporary marriage, if you are in a war like situation too far away from home you can marry for a limited duration, while fulfilling your marital obligations.
I personally think four wives is a living hell. It is hard enough to deal with one!

Divorce in Islam is not a sin.
In the Qu'uran we have an Ayah called "Divorce", for the right reasons of course.
You don't divorce for being bored with your current wife.
And you're only allowed to have four wives,if you'll treat them all the same.
And contrary to popular belief,it's rare to see someone married to more than one these days.
And God allowed marrying four, because women are four times men on our planet*(scientifically proven) and women need shelter and have their needs.

Any abuse is just an abuse. If you talk about the marriage that is called "Mottah" which mean to marry a women for some time, this prohibited by the say of Mohamed Pbuh but still some Shait people allow it.

Divorce in the eyes fo god is the biggest sin, (Gunah-e-kabira) a person can have mulitple wives or change wife only if there is a valid reason, that too with permisssion of existing wife.

either marry them in kindness or let them go in kindness. a man has respoinsbilities toward his wife and toward his children. it's not always easy.
Qurah ch2
[231] And when you have divorced women and they have fulfilled the term of their prescribed period, either take them back on reasonable basis or set them free on reasonable basis. But do not take them back to hurt them, and whoever does that, then he has wronged himself. And treat not the Verses (Laws) of Allâh as a jest, but remember Allâh's Favors on you (i.e. Islâm), and that which He has sent down to you of the Book (i.e. the Qur'ân) and Al-Hikmah (the Prophet's Sunnah - legal ways - Islâmic jurisprudence.) whereby He instructs you. And fear Allâh, and know that Allâh is All-Aware of everything.
