What you do sort of describes what type of person you are. Like, it you steal and rob people; that says about you that you are not honest, and you are greedy. Or, if you're a doctor; it says about you that you take time out of your life to help other people back to health, and that you are compassionate. "you do what you are" means that you choose your actions based on who you are inside, and that you make choices that fully reflect who you are. It's a circle! :) Have a nice day! :)

actions -> habit
habit -> mentality/personality
mentality -> future
well i don't know the exact quote. i've seen it in a book "Seven Habit of Highly Effective People".
first, about "you are what you do" it could means what you do especially repeatable will become your habit.
then, "you do what you are" since it has become a habit or mentality, you just doing it ..

You are a sinner because you sin and you sin because you are a sinner.
Jesus is a Savior because He saves and He saves because He is a Savior.
Because you are a sinner and He is a Savior you need to get together and be saved from your sins.
Then you will not be a sinner because you will not sin and you will not sin because you will not be a sinner.
