My 18 month old baby just had a violent siezure today, she also had a high fever which may have triggered it, I was just wondering (since I had epilepsy as a child) if it may have been passed down.
I will have her examined tommorrow by her primary care doctor, just need to ease my mind for the evening

Children who have seizures due to fever, does not mean they have epilepsy due to their genetics. The website below, discusses children, fever and seizures, please read that to get a better understanding and also for a self-care at home guide.

i have been told that it can be passed down. i have epilepsy so my doctors always ask if there is any family history dealing with epilepsy. this does NOT mean that your child does/will have epilepsy. the baby may just have a fever that triggered a seizure without having anything else involved. Though you might agree with me (because you had epilepsy) that having epilepsy is not that bad.
