You just have to do it and get it over with. Good luck.

It really is a predicament huh. You are afraid he or she would take it so hard that he or she may do something silly, like the slashing of the wrist and the sorts.
Tell me, wad is the reason for the break up? If it is for your own selfish gain, than I would have nothing to say. But if you think the breakup is for the good of both of you, just tell her straight.
Trust me, it is better to just voice your views. Give him or her the pros and cons of the relationship and the reason why you think it will not work anymore. I know this is a very sensitive period but if it is for the better, you have to tell her that she's gotta move on.
Befere you hit the big reply, think about yourself. Would you really like this relationship to end? I am sure there are happy times which you both spent together. Just make sure you do not regret any decisions you make. It will come back haunt you.
Cheers!

Sometimes you have let them know the best way that you can. "Sensitive" people aren't too sensitive when it comes to other people sometimes. If you've dropped hints, this person is probably a "hanger on". You may have to have an outburst, or a nasty fight. You may not want to hurt feelings, but are you willing to continue on?

You`re trying to commit murder, you realise?
Already the person is sensitive and emotional, and he will need all the help and patience he gets.
You planning to break up is like putting the sensitive person in a barrel of cement with a rope round his neck and pushing him to the bottom of the sea.
Tryreversing the roles. What is you were in his place and he in yours?

Just do it. You can't help it if she gets upset. That's life, someone will comfort her and she'll move on. Just don't say "I don't want to hurt you" because even if you don't it wont make any difference. Tel her why you don't want to be with her anymore and tell her the truth. it will be hard, but you can do it.

well, sounds like no matter how sweetly or bluntly you put it, its going to hurt. try not using words like "i don't want to hurt you but..." etc....cause that is what you will be doing to an overly sensitive person.
honestly all you can do is be direct, but not cruel. and don't back down. **experience with overly emotional break-up**

Have sex with his/her close relative or best friend. Then you will be dumped and won't have to worry about it :)
