EMPLOYERS of illegals,even more agressively than the illegals themselves??? Personally,i think we should DEPORT all illegals, AND go after the GREEDY,LOWLIFES that hire them!!! Their employers should be arrested, jailed, fined, and their businesses and assets SEIZED!They would just have to do that to one or two of these idiots,and the REST would be firing their illegals so FAST, it would seem like RATS on a sinking ship!!!

I hate when people say that things would cost 5 times more if we hired legal labor. So you're saying that illegals are paid 6 times less? Isn't that a crime?

Scumbags who hire illegals do not pass the savings on to us, they pocket the difference. If they received not just fines but jail time, they would stop hiring really quickly.

Also, we somehow found people to do all of those "jobs Americans won't do" before the illegals flooded in. You know how, because people were paid a living wage for that type of job.

No matter what we do about the current illegals once we get the borders secured and interior enforcement, we need real, enforceable penalties against employers. They were having hearings on this in Congress Monday and even the Bush administration was saying that they needed better enforcement. On the other hand, even the pro-legalization lobbyists were saying they didn't know how we could be expected to really expect enforcement since we had never seen it before.

In order to enforce immigration laws we have to do more than secure our borders. We need to shut off the magnet that draws them here illegally. Employment is a big one but it is not the only one. Education is another, but the most difficult to deal with. If we can't 'not educate children' we can at least not pile in-state tuition and state and federal grants on top of subsidized education through high school. The benefits package for illegals needs to be dismantled. In the future, if there is any increase on legal immigration for a SENSIBLE guest worker program (not what the Senate Bill has) the employers should provide for the education and health care of their employees.

Large housing developers pay local impact fees for their purchasers, why shouldn't employers cover the costs of their employees, particularly if they wouldn't even be in the country but for the employer? That would make the employers pay more of the true cost of their workforce.

HELL, yes! 1/2 million dollar fine per proven instance. The first 4 or 5 businesses that got shut down, and auctioned off as a result of an enforcement clampdown would be a great 'smoke signal' to the rest of em, you saw all KINDS of good corporate reforms happen after the Worldcom/Enron scandals, and making sure your employees are lawful residents of the country you're hiring them in is a fair and equitable standard, and shouldn't even be an issue if companies were themselves instituting some of the principles of good corporate governance. Since they're not, and the quickest way to a businessman's heart is through his WALLET, I say 'fine holy hell out of em 'til there's compliance'.
If BerryCorp goes away because of it, then actual american citizens will just have to get out there and plant berries if they want 'em.

You think it's a big deal? and do you REALLY think it can happen. As much as I agree with you, I think no one will dare do that. It's so politically charged no one wants to wake up this monster.

Besides, think in a practical way- if not for illegals the labor charges for any service work would be out of reach. Case in point, I went to the "reputed" auto repair shop the labor costs for a repair were at least 5 times more than the parts. When I checked out my "neighborhood" gas station/mechanic, that "amigo" quoted 60% less and you can do the rest of the math; with the gas prices hitting the roof, I can't afford to have a corporate chain to do the repair, I opt for cheaper one. I know that amigo shop hires illegals but hey if I get this guy arrested, guess who gets the shot in the butt?

My point, you can vent all you want, but this ain't goin' away! Live with it.

I am a Single white male that was born in the US, but I cannot get the services I need, just because i am white and speak English..... I am Pissed off as hell. You are right. There are three little words to solve the illegal immigration problem. They are - Don't Hire Them. If employers did not hire these illegal immigrants, they wouldn't come. Unfortunately, Immigration officials are located mostly at the border and few are available to check on employers who take advantage of them. The laws are on the books. Immigration officials rarely enforce these laws.

Not every single employer of illegal immigrants does it strictly out of greed. A lot of them depend on illegal immigrants to do the jobs that citizens here don't want to do or would want do be paid more than they deserve for the job.
