If you are trying to sleep at night and not in the day, I would say no. You are not sleeping deeply enough at night. You may have sleep apnea, urinary problems, or something else medically wrong.
The best thing to do is make a chart noting the hours you sleep, at night, what woke you up, and why if you know.
Then take this list to your doctor and see if he can recommend a good sleep therapist.
worth a try.
Hope

No it is not normal but I do. After working night shift at a factory a while ago I will often be up extra late. I believe I have a reason to do so as it suits me functionally and socially. You will know if you feel better on a night shift by how the rest of the day goes. It is not for everyone especially as some can't be sleeping during the day. Family obligations come first. A little planning can get everything done in the daylight hours. There is a lot more to the story but if it suits it is fine.

I love the night. I have always been a night person...the only thing that sucks is when people make plans with you for times that are like your middle of the night. Like another person said, I can barely see in the day...my eyes have always been super-sensitive in the sun. So you are normal...

Here's my perspective-- before thomas edison invented the insomniac by proxy (before light bulbs were an easy to use cheap resource) most people probably went to bed not too long after it got dark, for obvious reasons.
NORMAL? by what set of standards? Normal is a relative term. But it's not that uncommon for those 3rd shifters or drug addicts.
