I'm going to America and Canada for my holiday this summer in this teen tour (hey, I'm just 14 yrs old!) and I planned to buy a wallet for my travel... What should I look into when buying such a wallet? I want it to be practical and pretty to look.

I have used a shoulder holster type wallet when I have been travelling - accessible for me but virtually impossible to steal. Money belts or bum bags are also a good option.

A loose wallet is difficult to store with light clothing and putting it in the outside pocket of a rucksack is pretty risky - I prefer on I can "wear".

To tell the truth, buy one on the trip, take it home and use it there!

If you are in a major city or tourist area, you don't want to keep your money in a wallet! Money should be kept in the front pocket of your paints. This is true not only for the Americas, but world wide. Where you have tourists, you will have pick-pockets.

If you are having to carry all of your spending money with you, put what you think you will need in one pocket, and the rest in the other. If you run low, don't pull out a large amount of money from the back up pocket in public. Do it in the restroom where no one can see how much you have.

If you want something to carry your passport or you don't have pockets, get one of those cute little around the neck totes. If you do choose to use a fanny pack, keep it in the front!
