I don't know what a drill bit is?? I assume that you are speaking of a bur or tiny piece of an instrument that was accidentally separated in your tooth, not floating around around in your mouth. If this is the case, yes this does happen on occasion. A piece can separate and they may place medication inside of the tooth in an attempt to loosen the piece for easier removal at the next visit. No you cannot sue, I'm sure they had you sign whats called and informed consent when you filled out your health history. This form releases the liablility from them. Just to provide some comfort, this is not rare, It is not causing any harm to you or your body. I'm sure they will work as hard as they can to remove it, if the cannot get it you will be ok. The majority of the time this does not have any negative effects on the tooth. Good Luck!!!

No, that isn't normal. As for whether you can sue, it is possible, but really depends on statutes in your area and the facts of your situation.
