Just boils down to tradition, and unwillingness to change, sort of the same reason we still use the QWERTY keyboard when it's really not all that efficient.

The almighty dollar. Isn't it obvious....

If they sell you 10 hot dogs, but only 8 buns, then you need to buy 2 packs of buns instead of just one. If they sold 8 & 8 or 10 & 10, that'd be a huge financial loss because people would only need to buy half as many buns. As it stands, you'd need to buy 40 of each just to come out with an even number & not have buns or dogs left over.

Because the meat people need 10 to make a pound and bakers don't like working in 10's. I went to a bunch of websites and basically got the same answer. Doesn't seem like a good enough answer does it? I'll keep looking tomorrow.

it just seems like a ploy to make the consumer spend more money. WIth buying one there is a need to buy more of the other. It keeps going until even. Eventually they become even when there are 24 of each

some of the dogs survive the hot heat when they're burned, some doesnt. that makes the difference in amounts..... while the hot dogs without burn doesnt get hurt at all... so they all survived.
