There are so many misconceptions and lies in these answers, I don't even know where to start.....
In answer to the QUESTION at hand here, my OPINION is that they are very Christian people who try their very hardest to worship God as he WANTS to be worshipped. FURTHERMORE, I think that noone's opinion here really counts... you should go to the source, get the facts and then decide for yourself because these people OBVIOUSLY do NOT know what the heck they are talking about.

Jehovahs witnesses do still celebrate christmas etc, but only in a religious context, afterall those days really are about jesus/god and not about getting presents. Maybe we could all learn something from this??
(and no I'm not a jehovah's witness, just open minded)
They still give gifts to their children on other days of the year and not just because it is a holiday, they do it because they love them and want to give them a gift now not at christmas.
Like alot of other religions, we do not fully understand what or why they do things the way they do, but at the end of the day they believe in god, they are not doing anything criminal, they are not hurting anybody, so what is the problem.

It is amazing that so much energy is expended by non-Witnesses to specifically attack the Jehovah's Witness religion. What other peaceful Christian religion is as consistenly attacked?
Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) “Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

I can not believe how people who don't know anything about us as Jehovah Witnesses can talk so mean about us. we laugh, cry. pay bills and live next door to you. we are not a cult. the holidays are man made. we worship Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. they are not the same person. they are different. we do what Jesus commanded us to do at Matthew 28 verses 19 and 20. don't believe Deborah g. she must of been disillusioned and angry. we are not like that at all. we love one another. we don't worship flags or idols. we only worship Jehovah. we don't celebrate holidays. they are man made. but we get gifts all the time. we don't need a reason to give a gift like others who celebrate holidays. no matter what anyone says about us Jehovah Witness who cares. we love Jehovah and Jesus. remember the world hated Jesus and he told us we would be hated for the samething. so sticks and stones will break my back but words will never harm us.

All I can say is that I agree with achtung heiss...you folks expend a great deal of energy throwing verbal rocks at a lifestyle and belief system that you obviously do not understand! Acts 5:29 says "In answer Peter and the other apostles said "We must obey God as ruler rather than men!" and I John 2:15-17 says "Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world- the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one's means of life- does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is it's desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever." So we, as servers of Jehovah, are not bothered by your anger, your riducule, or your animosity. We obey God as ruler, rather than men, and I feel I will be rewarded for it at the end of it all. That's enough for me! :)

All i am going to say is that all of us has the right to their own decision. and no one can make that decision, yet you. in case you experience this guy is too controlling, perchance you are able to convey it up...? in simple terms in the different case. in simple terms tell him that you've your own beliefs in a fashion i guess.... yet definite, as a JW, we do not drink. On activities it really is totally effective, we in simple terms attempt to no longer finally end up puking contained in the bathroom the subsequent morning :) and for the smoking, we do not smoke and as for the sex previously marriage, we believe that that is particular and that Jehovah God needs you to reserve it for marriage. you are able to celebrate holidays because like i discussed previously, all of us has a precise to their own decision. yet in case you do extra analyze, you'll understand the justifications we do not celebrate. :) (Btw after I say analyze, i do not propose googling it and believing the first element you study.) yet in simple terms because we do not celebrate holidays, doesn't propose we do no longer have fam reunions, get togethers, activities, ect. :D All i am going to say is that Jehovah Witnesess are not any further a cult. i do not truly comprehend how human beings can say those lies........ even if you've faith me or no longer, that is not any longer a cult. :) And being a JW is the most positive, superb experiance i have ever had! and that i have also met the nicest human beings i have ever wide-spread.... :) so that you may do inspite of you want and no one has the right to inform you in the different case. God gave us the alternative to settle on what we ought to pick to do and in no way do in existence. i'm hoping I helped and per chance replaced your opinon on JW's....? I choose you the most proper!!! =)

I answered the door one day to find a Jehova's witness standing there and decided to indulge her with questions. It same rational enough until she said that she believed she would live forever in her body. Obviously, that won't happen. The other witnesses I've had contact with have been extremely closed minded. So there ya have it.

It is a terrible religion. I would have died years ago if I followed their teachings since I have had not only blood transfusions but two kidney transplants and currently waiting for a 3rd.
Whenever they start up about how blood transfusions and transplants are against the Lord's teachings, I remind them that ALL knowledge comes from God himself and if he didn't want doctors to perform transfusions or transplants, He wouldn't have given them the knowledge to perform these procedures. If God didn't want them to watch TV, he never would have let it be invented. If he didn't want us to celebrate Christ's birthday, we would never have been notified of his birth in the first place. That shuts them up in a hurry!!

Sad. Anything that says you have to follow a law or believe a certain way - is anti-Christ.
Christ was here to show us that the law did not work. Grace to all was the only way, and will be forever. We are all righteous. It is our minds that need to be saved, need to be freed from the fear of sin and hell. Things that do not even exist.
