If you are referring to a faucet finish, then colour of the finish is not as important to longevity as the method for applying the finish.
Most good faucets are now PVD (physical vapour deposit) finished - basically meaning that the finish is part of the actual faucet, not just an outer coating.

Many different finishes are PVD - just check with your specific choice of manufacturer.
