Also, answer this if you know - Where in the Bible is it written about the shape of the earth, flat or sphere?

The word hell is found in different Bible translations as "the grave", or "world of the dead". It is known in the Hebrew language as sheohl and the Greek equivalent is haides, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of mankind. Geenna is also used as a reference to "the pit", or "the grave", and "fiery Gehenna" is speaking of The Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna) which was outside the walls of Jerusalem. It was used as an incinerator for the filth of the city, including the bodies of dead animals, and of executed criminals who were considered unfit for burial. It was kept burning with the addition of sulpher...hence the fire and brimstone and sulpher you hear about.
As for the earth hanging upon nothing at all, that is at Job 26:7 "He is stretching out the north over the empty place., hanging the earth upon nothing" and that the earth is a circle or sphere, that's at Isaiah 40:22 " There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers..." The Bible was scientifically correct long before it's time!!

There is no reference to hell in the bible. I'm not kidding. The word hell didn't exist in the bible until a mistranslation of the greek text in the middle ages.

The word hell is roman for hades, the God of the underworld. There is also reference to this in the Norse God Hel. The word for Hell in the bible is Gehenna, a valley outside Jerusalem where garbage was burned. It was said that after death, the sinners would be burned forever in the valley of gehenna. Thus the idea of hell fire.

As for the shape of the earth, the bible calls the earth a ball or sphere of the earth.

nowhere in the bible is there a description of hell. hell was a place where they burned garbage, and corpses. the word hell appears only in matt., mark, luke, peter and james. some of those instances speak of hades, the underworld. some allude to gehenna (the city dump). this word is repeated only 14 times in the bible. most of these instances are in matt.

The word translates in one area as the garbage dump.

I think it is mostly used as a metaphor to your state of well being and state of mind.

Do not know about the shape of the earth thing. Did not know it was there. Sign of the time of writing if it is in there.

My friend said that the original hell was a garden (Similar to Eden) where people went to repent for a year before being allowed into heaven.

weeping and gnashing of teeth......i cant remember where it says in he bible about the sphere of the world....but i think its in Isaiah or Job.....for sure in a prohets book

Hell:

Definition: The word “hell” is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read “the grave,” “the world of the dead,” and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered “hell”; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? (3) The Jerusalem Bible transliterates hai′des six times, but in other passages it translates it as “hell” and as “the underworld.” It also translates ge′en·na as “hell,” as it does hai′des in two instances. Thus the exact meanings of the original-language words have been obscured.

2 Thess. 1:9, RS: “They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction* and exclusion from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.” (*“Eternal ruin,” NAB, NE; “lost eternally,” JB; “condemn them to eternal punishment,” Kx; “eternal punishment in destruction,” Dy.)

Jude 7, KJ: “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (The fire that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah ceased burning thousands of years ago. But the effect of that fire has been lasting; the cities have not been rebuilt. God’s judgment, however, was against not merely those cities but also their wicked inhabitants. What happened to them is a warning example. At Luke 17:29, Jesus says that they were “destroyed”; Jude 7 shows that the destruction was eternal.)

But the real roots of this God-dishonoring doctrine go much deeper. The fiendish concepts associated with a hell of torment slander God and originate with the chief slanderer of God (the Devil, which name means “Slanderer”), the one whom Jesus Christ called “the father of the lie.”—John 8:44.

The shape of the earth -

The Hebrew prophet Isaiah stated with remarkable simplicity: “There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth.” (Isaiah 40:22) The Hebrew word chugh, here translated “circle,” may also be rendered “sphere.”3 Other Bible translations read, “the globe of the earth” (Douay Version) and “the round earth.”—Moffatt.

Additionally, only a spherical object appears as a circle from every angle of view. A flat disk would more often appear as an ellipse, not a circle.

In ancient times the general opinion was that the earth was flat. It was not until over 200 years after this Bible text had been written that a school of Greek philosophers reasoned that the earth likely was spherical, and in about another 300 years a Greek astronomer calculated the approximate radius of the earth. But the idea of a spherical earth was not the general view even then. Only in the 20th century has it been possible for humans to travel by airplane, and later into outer space and even to the moon, thus giving them a clear view of “the circle” of earth’s horizon.
