i know just how you feel. i had my 19 year old put to sleep in september, and i first got him when i was 4.
don't throw her things away until you are ready. keep them around the house for as long as you need to.
believe me when i say you will always miss her, there will always be a void.
time will help. i found that it also helped that i went to places with other dogs. getting to pat and play with them helps the healing process.
other than that, you will be able to move on when you are ready. you can't rush it. just remind yourself that she's not suffering and she had a good, long life.
my thoughts are with you.

We put our best friend of 18 years to sleep two years ago. We didnt throw his toys away and yes the house was quiet. We knew it was his time and so did he. We comforted ourselves in that. Eventually you settle down. I wouldnt stay at home on your own all the time. Involve yourself in some things that take your mind off your immediate reactions. Time always heals. We didnt get another pet for quite some time. He was the only one we had and we needed time to make a rational decision as to whether we wanted another pet or not. At the moment we have two cats (our friend was a dog). We keep him in our hearts and wouldnt trade the years we had with him for anything. You eventually move on.Dont be too hard on yourself. It will get better. One thing I did keep was his dog bowl and I am glad I did.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I went thrrough the same thing a little over a year ago. My dog was only 8 years old and he was my best friend. We had him cremated and now he's in a box that we keep in our living room with his collar inside and pictures of him on the outside of the box. The first year was really tough for me, I would cry myself to sleep for the longest time and everytime I thought about "THE" day I would get really emotional. So my advice to you is to stay strong and keep her in your heart and know that she is still with you in your memories and know that you gave her a great life.

We had our dog Lulu cremated. She's in her little figurine urn. She was 2 weeks short of her 18th birthday. My mom keeps her collar and her favorite blanket. You have to recreate her as if she was alive and talk to her. Lifes about completion and good memories.

It just takes time. I'm so so sorry you had to do that. I've had to do it as well and I know it really sucks!
I'll say a prayer for you. :)
