What to do to increase iron absorption from the meal

I'd see a doctor about this, but do not mix calcium foods / drinks when taking iron (i.e. milk). Calcium blocks the absorption of iron. Also, try consuming vitamin C when you take in iron, the enhances the absorption of iron. It is hard to absort from vegetables. Meats / fishes tend to be easy sources of iron.

You may also want to supplement with B-12 and Zinc, as they tend to go hand and hand with iron deficiencies.

But by all means, see a doctor for a blood test to absolutely verify we are dealing with an iron deficiency.

Good luck.

You might need a higher dose of Iron that can only be prescribed by your doctor. It is extremely important for you to get checked out by your doctor and get a blood test as soon as possible to treat your anemia.
