I don't know the tone of your reception, but one thing I've seen tons of people doing lately is koozies. Especially if you're serving beer, they're great, and your bartender can hand them out as guests get drinks in addition to having some set up for people to pick up. You can get them in nearly any color, so you can pick one of your wedding colors (probably the darkest), and have them screenprinted. All of the ones I've seen have a large initial in the center, and below that it has the bride and groom's first names and the wedding date (like if your names are Jack and Jill Smith, large S, line at bottom: Jill and Jack, line below that: June 27, 2006). People use them and love them - you can never have too many, right?? - and they're something that people will keep and use instead of eating or looking at once and forgetting about. And they get cheaper the more you order - you can find them on the net for as little as $0.70 each, printed.

I am getting married this fall and i went through this same thing. I didn't want to give a favor that would end up either left of the table or lost in the person's car/trunk etc.
we decided that we are going to make a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital. I am in the process of coming up with a placecard that will be on everyones plate when they enter the reception that says a donation has been made on thier behalf blah blah blah...
at least we know that the money we spend will be doing some good.
maybe find a charity you both feel strongly about and make a donation
everyone that i have told this to in my family thinks it is a great idea.
in fact, we have 4 more weddings to go to this year, and two of the brides have decided to do something like it--one to an animal shelter and one to a homeless shelter.
it's a nice way to do something nice for others since so many people will be doing nice for you!
good luck and congratulations!!!!

You can get little boxes and inside the boxes put wedding candies in there and then attach to the bow that you would put around the box a small card with the name of you and your husband and the date you got married. Also, another idea would be making little gift baskets for the people fairly cheap. I did a wedding where the Bridal party each got a gift basket and the people invited to the wedding had bubbles with the groom and brides name and the date they got married.

Look towards you and your husband to be's favorite thing. Ours was the computer so everything was done that way. We used CD jewels and made inserts for the wedding pamphlet thing. (can't remember what it's called). Decoration's were all those AOL and other CD's that you get in the mail for free, we just glued pics on them and hung them all over the reception hall.
So find what is YOUR thing and go with it. Get creative and most of all have fun!

My sister made CDs of some of the songs played during the reception. Such as the song the couple danced to and a song dedicated to my father. Then she printed up some covers for the CD case. She did the whole thing from home fairly cheaply.

CD's are great with a picture of the couple to personalize it. We used Hershey kiss, with a little quote and put it in a baggie with a framed picture. Got the frames at the $1 Store. You can get candy in bulk at Sam's or Costco. Do it yourself at home an save.
Congratulations

My boyfriend and I are having our ceremony in September, and this is what we have so far.
1) Little mesh bags holding 4 engraved stones. One has our names on it, and the other three say Love, Hope and Trust, three keywords of our relationship.
2) Bud vases with our names and a small design engraved on them. We'll be filling them most of the way with sand in our wedding colors and putting a tea light candle in the top.
3) As most of our friends and family don't have pictures of us, we've bought inexpensive yet pretty frames and have put a picture of us together from one of our happiest nights together put in it.

went to a wedding where the favors were the couple's name and wedding date with doves etched onto shot glasses. We thought it was cool, now we can toast them whenever we want.

My husband and I love to play the lottery...I had personalized thank you cards printed and filled the cards with a lottery scratcher and a brand new penny from the year we were married. It was a big hit and some of your guests may walk away with some extra money!

go for something that matches your theme/colors. we had an oriental wedding and had the placecards put into fortune cookies and chopsticks with our name ribbons tying them together and little take out boxes with our name sticker on them. there's alot of things you can do think of your color and theme and do the first thing that comes to mind it usually is the best idea. send me a email if you need help. good luck.
