For any emergency management professionals, students, or anyone with knowledge in the emergency management field,
is there an online course I can take or any programs available for emergency management? I've tried the FEMA site and a few other resources I found on the web. I don't know if those online courses are legit though and don't want to risk losing money or getting conned. Truthfully, I don't know where to begin and am really anxious to get started. I have some experience in this field but would like to educate myself more and take courses to develop my knowledge and enhance my skills.
Ultimately, I would like to pursue a lifelong career in this field, but realize that at this point I don't have all the skill sets and knowledge needed in order to qualify for a position. In other words...

Hello.. there are a few EM programs out there and many that are in development. In fact, I sat on a panel to help build curriculum for a EM/Homeland Security program for colleges in Washington state. Are you seeking online/correspondence courses, or are you looking to move near a school?
Years ago when I started in EM, the only school out there was FEMA/EMI and I took course via mail. Then UWisconsin-Madison offered a program that could also be taken via mail. (This was not delivered online) I did not complete the UW degree.

Since most EM degrees are new or in development, they may not seem credible. As long as the school is accredited, you should not be steered wrong. If you have any questions about the school, ask a local emergency manager!
