Catnip works on one of my cats to calm it down. The other cat has no interest in catnip but is calm anyways because she is too fat to bother with doing anything requiring using energy that is better saved for eating.

A vet can prescribe a sedative for travel if your cat has problems with travel cages. That is all you need to know until you take your cat in for a check-up. Most anamal sedatives are not fit for humans and the dosages too small to do you any good anyway.

I would also recommend sedating the cat. It will be less stressful to her and all other parties in the car. However, when first given the pill, i've seen cats freak out in their crates since they don't understand what's happening to them, and it's heart-breaking to hear/see. But in the end it's much better for everyone when they finally calm down.

Youre going to have to go to your vet clinic to get anything, if its just a mild sedative it should be relatively cheap.

Drug name: Pentobarbital
Dosage of sedative: 500ml.
If you're looking to sedate your feline, use the drug Pentobarbital which can be administered through a sterile syringe. Measure 500ml of Pentobarbitol into the syringe and inject into the feline's neck. Pentobarbitol is a permanent sedative, meaning it will ultimately result in the euthanization of you feline.

WARNING: Pentobarbitol is the drug most commonly use to euthanize animals at local shelters and vetinary clinics!
