So let me get this straight, you want a dog that is aggressive, and easily trained for attack (or guarding)? Try a gun, it's cheaper and you won't have to feed it.

Read up on the temperament of any breed that you are interested in owning before you buy. Sometimes you may like someone else's dog but their dog may not be representative of the breed. Dobermans are great dogs but all dogs have different personalities just like people. Your best bet for getting a dog with reliable temperament and good health is to go to a reliable breeder. Make sure that you inspect the area that the puppies are raised and that you meet at least one of the parents of the puppy. Sit down on the floor and see which ones come to you. Timid puppies are not usually desirable. Visit several times if possible. All dogs take work to train but they are well worth it. Take your puppy to puppy classes and get him used to his leash. Puppy classes are very important because they get your puppy used to other people and dogs. Buy a book or two on training and actually read and follow the book. Make sure your dog knows that you are in charge. Above all, do not yell at your dog. Training can be accomplished without yelling. There are many groups that will give you advice on dogs. You may want to begin at your local American Kennel Club for advice. Do you have the time to train and groom your dog? Your dog is part of your family for many years so a lot of patience, time and research should go into your selection before choosing your dog. My favorite book about different breeds is: The AKC Complete Dog Book. If you are fortunate, your library may also have a good selection of additional books.

You will never go wrong with a german sheperd.easily to train, they very protective of their family. But you will have to get one from Germany.Their North American counterparts lousy.German sheperd used as police dogs are imported from Germany.
Rotts are not easily trainable but are very protective of their family.Usually following its master wherever he goes. They are so powerful that they knock the person down before attacking. Indestructable but gentle, at least mine.they are specimens of beauty and strength.
Doberman and Boxer are great dogs but cannot match the beauty and strength of a Rottweiler.
At the end of the day it is up to you to choose the dog.By what i felt from reading your letter, i am sure you will go for a Rottweiler.Don't you want to sleep with a dog which can take on a bear.

Well I would go with a boxer. They for sure will never attack children. They can be hard headed but will love you forever and can attack someone they dont know (they wont if you are present or they have been told not to) but be gentle enough to sleep with a baby. Go adopt one. Shelter dogs are usually well trained and house trained and human friendly.
PS. Boxers are also used as police dogs.

If you are looking for a family dog I would recommend the Boxer. Personally even I don't trust Roti's (something in their eyes I guess) and Dobermans just aren't that great of family dogs (from what I have heard).

Chow Chow they are very easily house trained/trained and they are very protective breed. I have owned many many breeds of dogs and the Chow Chow has been the easiest so far. And the only breed I had luck with house training.

Adopt a mutt, then you don't have to decide. By the way.... not all police dogs are German Shepards... you can thank TV for that stereotype.

Try the breed selector at this site. It will help you choose what will be best for you based on your answers. So you must be honest for it to help. Get dog not suited to you and you will be miserabe.
Select Dog Care then Breed Selector.

Most all dogs are loyal to their owners! Get a Australian Shepherd, they're VERY protective to their families etc
Just as long you treat them right! They will return their favor with attention & loyalty
