I'm talking about the mainland because I have tried searching in the net but it only gives details of the islands. Anyone who have been there? Thanks for your help in advance.

I live in Central Thailand - Tak Province - and it is a small quaint city.. there are some lovely attractions here and it is not touristy.. nor is there any danger, but I have not found Thailand to be a dangerous place.. There are some lovely natural spots, some of the nicest in Thailand.. and as all Thailand, the people are great.. If you have a further interest in Tak, let me know - - Tak is on the highway to Chiang Mai.. and easily reached.. worth a stopover if you go by bus from bkk - abt 6 hrs.. - the buses are quite nice and accommodations in Tak are lovely and very reasonable..

Hi, you can go to www.tourismthailand.org to check out all the provinces in Thailand. If you are into nature trek and eco-trek, look for the provinces of Tak and Mae Hong Son. If you want mountain resorts, look at Nakorn Ratchasima, Chiangmai and Chiangrai. If you want beach resorts other than Phuket, look at Petchaburi and Prachuab Khiri Khan. I think you will get pretty good feel of nice attractions that most foreigners do not know about.

Krabi: Beach area, Phuket, Beach area. To get to a lot of places in Thailand you will probably have to go through Bangkok...If so, Bangkok is another big city, but theres the canals, temples, palace along with Lumpini stadium to catch the main kickboxing event. Gamblong does go on in there but as the foreigner, I wouldn't suggest it. Chiang Mai, up north in the mountains is also very beautiful. You are sort of near the "Golden Triangle" up there. Some people take a bit of time so they can go see Ankgor Wat (I think that's how it's spelled), big ancient palace/temples etc...like the scenes in the movie Tomb Raider. There are a lot of sites on Thailand on the internet. Good luck on your travels...Just be safe, Pick pokets etc. and Tuk Tuk (golf cart cab) drivers trying to get you to shop at a friend's or cousin's shop that sells fakey Gems CG

Obviously Bangkok. Easy to find information about that.

Try Chiang Mai. Beautiful mountainous region.

I know you want more than islands but go to Khao Lak coastal area. Go to the Similan Islands while you're there. It's better than Phi Phi and this area is not crowded
