E471-what is it made of?

E471 is an emulsifying agent found in lots of foodstuffs..i just want to know what is it made of?is it an animal product or can a vegetarian eats it?

Not sure, but I do know that if the GODS didn't want us to eat animals, they wouldn't have made them out of meat.
