My best friend was in love with me for years and I knew it. I just told him straight out that I wasn't interested in anything but friendship. Now we both have significant others and are still best friends.

Yes and oh what an awkward situation. I dealt with it by acting like I didn't know and making it clear in simple ways that I treasured the friendship. I don't know if that was best, but he never had to be embarassed by rejection from me because of that and maybe he saved face.

I actually experienced this twice, and handled it the same both times, and I guess it worked for me, and maybe them.

Good luck with it, I feel for you.

Test him out first, like see how he'd react if you said you had a bf.

Tell him how you feel about it, but that shouldn't be a problem, you've been friends for a long time. He probably found you extraordinary, and thats why he fell for you. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?
