my daughter had a bad burn on her arm- that blistered and peeled. After she healed up, we used mederma to help get rid of the scar. It worked. As far as helping the healing, the doctor should be giving him something for that. I don't remember the name, but it is a small dark blue jar, the cream was whitish/silver in color. It took the burn pain away and helped to heal it faster.

A first degree burn is one of your first layer of skin (the epidermis). Getting sunburnt or touching a hot pain for a second can give you a first degree burn. These don't usually scar because they don't burn the dermal skin and hydrating lotion and aloe soothe them. A second degree burn burns through your dermal layer of skin. It's incredibly painful because you're nerves are still intact and these burns can scar badly. It's not smart to put lotion or aloe on these because these burns are prone to infection. You should clean it with hydrogen peroxide or an antibiotic ointment and bandage it to keep it clean. You also should probably see a doctor. A third degree burn is not painful because you've destroyed your nerves and killed off all your skin layers and sometimes muscle and fat layers. I'm guessing you have a bad first degree burn or a mild second degree burn. You should keep it clean and bandage it before worrying about scaring. The yellow color could indicate infection, so you should consider seeing your doctor or going to the walk-in clinic. After it's completly healing, rubbing vitamin E oil can reduce scaring.

Aloe vera is among the best natural skin healers around. The problem in your brother's case is that 3rd degree burns are dangerously prone to infection and fluid loss. They take a lot of very specialised care to heal at all! Sadly, scarring is inevitable but once the new skin has healed over, either by itself or by grafting, vitamin E can be helpful.

I spent 4 months in the burn unit with burns ranring from 2nd to 3rd degree of 35% of my body. I used the Silveadene they are talking about but what I found to really help was some stuff from Wal-Mart (believe it) called Palmers cocoa butter with aloe vera. I also took plenty of vitamins (I am a avid weight lifter) and followed a good diet. I have very little scarring for the amount of burns I recieved. Since then two fellow firefighters were also burned and they also used it and like it better than the stuff the hospital gave us. I hope it helps.

My Dad was burnt over 75% of his body in second and third degree burns in a house explosion and was in the hostpital for 2 months, there was a cream he used from Japan, he got it from one of those herbal bee Dr's, it helps with scarring tremendously. It is illegal in the US, I wish I could tell you the name, but I don't remember. It's in a Black box and has red and yellow on it.... and all Japanese writing.... Bee stings also help.
Lots of Aloe, and remember to keep everything around him free of dirt and dust. My Dad almost died 3 times from infections....... God Bless you and him, I know what it feels like....
MOST OF ALL do not let the hospital send him home to early...

the most important thing is to keep it moist during the healing stages and keep it as clean as possible to prevent infection.
