The problem with your question is, at what point is someone too young. If 17 were okay now, then will 16 be okay in 20 yrs. What about 15 or 14? 18 is the law and it is a good choice.

But not for the normal moral reason. She is still a child. For reasons that most 17 year olds are still to self involved to be able to handle themselves in an adult manor. And yes, there are some who are mature for their age. Just let them be a kid a little longer for they will grow up soon enough.

I think that is should be up to the parents of the girl. Seein to many rapes happen I would leave it up to the parents. Not to the goverment, they have way to many thing going on to think about changin the laws that are already intacked. If they parents let them then it is fine by me.

Nope. He's 8yrs older - which is a lot more life experience. If they like eachother so much why not just remain friends and then date when she turns 18.

It is illegal for a reason. He has far more experience than you and usually it means he is not mature enough to attract a woman his own age.
