2 cups sugar
2 cups water
Sprigs of fresh mint
Crushed ice
Whisky
Cups
Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Use the general recipie that is dictated but make sure that u use a decent bourbon. Makers mark or woodford reserve (which was the featured bourbon for the kentucky derby) are the ones that i would use. also, if u are just not a fan of bourbon, try a mojito, made with white rum. it may suit your tastes a little better.

try a mojito instead. You make it with rum, a sugar cube, and mint leaves. try it with Bacardi Limon. You'll like it a lot better. Or you could do a virgn mint julep, and use lemonade instead on bourbon. Enjoy!

Just trim down the amount of whiskey...and use bourbon instead whiskey. The best would be Woodford Reserve but it's local to Kentucky. Then try Crown Royal.
