If it was tap water in the house, I'd get a filter or have bottled water delivered to my home.
What do you mean by bad? Bad tasting? Causing people to get sick and die (like in Erin Brockovich)? Something else?

you can buy a reverse osmosis filter at costco or sams club that takes just about every bad thing there is out of your water, but you eventualy have to replace the filters, you can have your water tested for impurities, also, to see if you need to take action, or you can get sparkletts or someone to deliver drinking water to you.

i dont know how it might not be safe
but boiling is the most convinient way... but still it think its not safe
