If the draft were to be re-instated?

This is from the Selective Service Website: "Contrary to popular belief, "only sons," "the last son to carry the family name," and "sole surviving sons" must register and they can be drafted."

However... I will say with almost complete coviction that there will NEVER BE ANOTHER DRAFT.

The simple answer to your question is "no", but not because of the reasons these people are stating. The reason a single male child cannot be drafted is because THERE IS NO DRAFT. So... NOBODY can be drafted.

In every draft that the United States has ever implented, there has never been such a provision (exemption due to "only son" status. This is pure urban legend.

Now... do YOU have to worry about being drafted? The answer is NO. There are people with political motivations who are trying their best to scare the 18-22 year-old-male crowd with this nonsense. But it just ain't going to happen. For lots of reasons. Most importantly, because the Pentagon DOESN'T WANT a draft. They would much rather enlist volunteers, even if they have to offer better pay and benefits. The Army learned its lesson about conscription in Vietnam. The war in Iraq is already unpopular, can you imagine the reaction if there were actually people serving over there who didn't volunteer for it?

Secondly, if you have questions, just check out the Selective Service website (www.sss.gov).

Thirdly, the Army is currently exceeding its recruiting goals.

So... my advice... Register with Selective Service (it is the law, you know), and stop worrying. It is difficult to imagine any scenario in which millions of unwilling young Americans would need to be pressed into service. Those days are gone, replaced by America's massive technological war machine. Barring an invasion of California by China (or somebody), I can't see a draft ever being re-instated.

NO! Under the selective service act, certain section, he CAN'T be drafted!

Have you ever seen "Saving Private Ryan"? That's what the whole movie is about, getting the last of 4 brothers out of the war so he can go home.

properly in Latin usa that is the females which have the in simple terms precise call because the family individuals call for the little ones. So that is not any longer everywhere, yet i guess because decrease back then or perhaps now, we are nonetheless a male dominant society.

Is he related to any wealthy politicians? Does his family vote for the right people? Is he moneyed or is he just working class? Lots of variables. Hope he's got connections!
