Once a month is often enough. If they have too many baths, it makes their skin too dry. You can keep them brushed daily. If they get outside and get into something really stinky, you can bathe them for that, but once a month should do the trick.

Puppy: Never, ever bathe a puppy less than 6 weeks of age unless directed by your vet with good cause!!!!!! Bathing: Contrary to popular belief, the more often you bathe with anything soapy or sudsy, the more likely you are to have persitant smell... why? because the oil glads are having to work harder against your efforts and the dog could develop dry skin/dermatitis. I recommend bathing once a month & only use Dr Bonner's liquid or any conditioning brand of doggie-shampoo without perfume. In addition, no matter what you use, thin it with water BEFORE APPLICATION... short haired dogs ratio of 1 part shampoo to 5 parts shampoo.... longer hair, even more water.... Then rinse, and I mean rinse first with water mixed with a small amount of baking soda, then rinse again & again until you can sqeeze your dogs fur in all places & there is no residue of any kind. My dog is short haired & it takes a 20 minute rinse with a shower-massage for final rinse. Brush your dog every day, and when shedding at least twice a day. The dog will smell less & will love you for the attention. Limit bathing to once per month (see above) and if the dog gets dirty & needs other bathing, only rinse with water

Generally once a month. Some ppl will tell you to do it when they smell bad, but some breeds can go months or even a year without smelling like they need a bath. Also, if your pup is under six months then use non-scented baby bath or dawn-- no puppy or dog shampoo. If you bath him/her yourself (like I do) make sure you get all the shampoo out. Some breeds have sensitive skin and can get infections from shampoo being left on their skin.

it depends on how dirty the dog is. if you can't tell, lean down and take a wiff and if the dog smells bad, hook it up with a good bath. If your pup is going to be an inside dog it won't need a bath as much as the outside dog. depending on how dirty the dog is, usually once or 2x a month and if you get a pup that likes to stay clean you might be able to get by with 2 months (provided its an inside pup)

i'm told that you shouldn't bathe puppies until they are a couple months old and you shouldn't bathe your dogs too often. i just clean my dogs by when they obviously need a bath. basically when they smell like dogs. my husbands dog gets bathed more often, she has dry skin and stinky feet so she has special shampoo and has to be cleaned every two weeks. but my dog can go a month or two. hope this helps.
