And that Eve was made from Adam's rib and that original sin is her fault? Why are women portrayed so negatively in the Bible?

So if the Bible was written by men, and they wrote whatever they wanted about women, how do we know they didn't make up other stuff, too?

First question...I am a very feminist "Christian" and I believe that God is both, since there is both male and female...if all of us are created in God's image, then women are also...hence the both sexes present.
Second question...to most people that have studied the Bible, original sin IS NOT Eve's fault. It is the fault of Adam. He lied to Eve about what God had said about the Tree of Knowledge and when it came time to "confess" Adam blamed Eve for everything and also (and I'm paraphrasing here) called God an idiot for making her. Also according to Jewish Law and Myth, a man is always held accountable for a womans actions.
Third question...there is a Bible called the Jeromes Bible, it was translated by St. Jerome and he took the original Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew text word for word in the translation...the reason I bring that translation up is because women are not as "negatively" portraited as in some other translations. Sure you still have Jezebel, Deliha, and all those other honeys...but when women are discussed, it is not as "irrational" as some other translations.
What you have to remember is that we don't honestly know what is in the original text...the Bible has become corrupted by man and HIS own dogma and ideology. The most important thing about faith is to know what you believe in and to use the bible as a guide...not as faith itself.
God does not hate women, nor is He indifferent to them. He made as all, both sexes, equal...Eve was taken from Adams rib, not from his feet to be above him, or from his feet to be below him; but from his rib, to be equal to him. That is something we all must remember.

The ones that I know do. And, on a side note, women AREN'T portrayed negatively in the Bible. Women that sin in the Bible are mentioned, yes, but so are men that sin. And, that first sin is really Adam's fault, as said in Romans 5. As for women, Deborah (in Judges 4) saves Israel from an attacking army. Even Paul mentions some couragous and faithful women in the first few verses of Romans 14. The list could go on and on. I would ask that you would do some research, perhaps, before you make such a statement as you did. I hope that this helps, God bless!

I am a Christian, and proud to be a woman. I wouldent consider myself a feminist though, far from it.
I beleive that God is a Male.
I beleive that Original sin was Eve's fault, but it also was Adams because he chose to eat the fruit aswell.
I think that in the old testament Woman were portrayed more harshely than the new testament.

But look at how many influencal and wonderful woman are in the Bible: Sarah, Mary, Mary Magdalene,The Samaritan woman, Ruth,Hannah,Esther. There are many more.

Jesus really broke the boundaries and allowed the woman to be taught and to hear the message of God. ( which was not allowed to be done before). He even appeared to a woman first when he rose from the dead!

As for women being submissive to their husbands? I beleive this is correct. I beleive we all have our roals. I want to be able to provide for my family as a mother.
Will I stay home and cook and clean with my future kids? Yes. pray that I will be a good Christian wife and mother.

I don't think god is a He. i don't think God is a she, either. I think god is above the genders, god is an all powerful being......I think women need more respect. WE give birth, we love, we have more compassion? Women are actually biologically stronger than men, that's why we live longer. It's so sad that women are portrayed negatively in the bible, though. The bible shouldn't be taken so literally-THINK about it! If the bible were to be taken literally, Jesus would be a loaf of wonder bread.

The only reason the Bible is difficult to ladies is because the man represents God and the woman represents the chruch. The church separated from God and sinned (although if Adam stood for God, God did not sin). I also believe spirits have no gender.

even most feminist christians believe god is male, or maybe asexual. Women are portrayed so negatively in the bible, because Paul and many other church leaders felt that women should be subjugated. they actyually believed that women were incapable of thinking properly. Some even went so far as to murder women who stood up against them. In a time when only the clergy was educated in europe, Mohammed had an italian teacher who had been removed from the catholic church for murdering 2 women, one of whom was his wife.

Gaia is a she and Baal is a He.

the story of Adam does not relate to a god .

that was an Anunaki who 300.000 years ago bred the Adam race to mine gold for him,
and he did not make two people he made a whole slave race

the religion was invented to give the slaves a purpose and to control them

and the bible is the continuence of that control .by his decendents the illuminati

depends on the feminist. here's some food for thought though, isn't it odd that women are made out to be so nasty in the bible (and that mary magdalene was cut out almost completely) when it was written and translated almost exclusively by men?

power struggles so often fall back on gender differences.

A Feminist is often a person who was brainwashed by MALES to get out of the house and bring in money! Remove the sexes (Unisex) and you dont have equality - you have unhappy ladies becasue much respect goes out the window.

Solomon kinda liked women. He wrote a lot about how beautiful a virtuous woman is. He even married a lot of them. 700 or so. He also said it was better to sleep on a rooftop than with a nagging wife, so maybe not a good example....hmmm......
