Just in case a patron that is being shuttled needs to use the ATM. They usually are escorted to the ATM while the driver stands to the side so that may do their business in private. The car is left behind the person in the drive thru line so as not to put the person in any danger of getting hit by any other cars that might drive up to use the ATM. Yep, they walk thru the ATM line.

Maybe it would cost too much to manufacture different keypads for the drive through ATMs. Another possibility is that a blind person may be a passenger and not a driver (like if they took a cab or something).

Maybe the driver is sighted but a blind passenger sitting in a back seat wants to use the ATM. I have a blind friend who is very self sufficient. I can envision her doing her banking herself if I would just facilitate her with driving her to the ATM!

Blind people need to get money out of their accounts after normal business hours too. Someone else may drive them and they don't want them to have their code, so they do it themselves. Some people walk up. Just because they can't see doesn't mean they can't do anything.

You don't have to have a driver's license or be able to see to be able to use an ATM machine. You could just be a passenger, and maybe you don't want someone to have your pin number so you want to take care of your business yourself.

For blind passengers in cars. i asked my dad that once being serious and he told me it was for the blind drivers but i guess the blind people have to ride behind the driver in order to use the ATM machine.

That is a good question. I guess I would go ask a manager of a bank and see what the response is. My guess is that he/she will get a kick out of someone asking!

Mass production. That's also why they have handicap spots at skating rinks. So they don't have to do anything special
