In Buddhism, Buddhists are advised to refrain from taking intoxicants. It is one of the 5 precepts, but the only precept that don't relate to karma.
Buddhism values a clear mind, to stop thoughts and create a vacuum, and emptiness, so that divinity can *fill* in order to attain Enlightenment.
Taking intoxicants of any kind hinders your progress to cultivation of mind.

However, Buddhism's precepts serves only as a guideline for relieving oneself from sufferings, the layperson has his free will of choice, because due to the law of karma, we reap what we sow. We are responsible for our own thoughts and actions. There is no judgement . The word "sin" is not in the context of Buddhist scriptures.

Well . . . they don't. The reason God forbade creating images of Him is because He is spirit - that is to say God has no physical image. When Moses was on mount Sinai, the people made a golden calf. It is important to understand that the calf was an image they substituted for God. Exodus 32:8 (NASB) "They have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them. They have made for themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it and have sacrificed to it and said, 'This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!'" In Christianity Jesus is the image of the living God. However, this image is not meant to be a physical representation, but a representation of God in character and nature. There is no pictures or even descriptions of Jesus' physical appearance. Isaiah (53:2 NASB) says of his appearance: He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. God understands that having any kind of physical image, even as a stand-in for Him, leads people away from seeking his nature and purpose..
