Bible Gateway! I have a terrible memory, always have, and could never remember Bible verses verbatim. I know what's in the Bible, I just don't always know exactly where it is or who said it. You can look scriptures up by topic, by verse, or just type in whatever words that you can remember, and there are many Bible versions there. Also, check out the Blue Letter Bible (link below).

As you read the bible you get a deeper understanding of the things. You probably get a more clearer picture. And as you get the better picture you will start understanding the meanings of verses(the underlying meanings). Then you will start feeling the great power in those verses and the high content and value of the verses. This starts fascinating you that how come you were blindly listening to these verses before and was not able to absorb such a quality meaning.Once the verses starts fascinating you, you feel like using those verses in your day 2 day life(just like a good dialogue in a movie is quoted or used)and then even without your knowledge the earlier tough verse would be flowing out from you spontaneoulsy. This is what I feel.Could be that this is not the reason or that this is only partially correct for others.

1) Study.
2) Use a concordance. That's a book with alphabetized listings of every word in the bible, and the verses where it appears. So if you are thinking about the verse that reads something like "I am the bread that came from heaven", look up 'bread' in the concordance and you will find the reference. They even have pocket electronic concordances these days. Very handy.

When people were illiterate (most people, until recent times) they MEMORIZED large sections of the Bible. Some still do today. It's not a bad idea, either.

I grew up in a home where the Bible was important. I'm the oldest of 9 children, so, if we wanted to go to camp in the summer, we had to learn Bible verses to earn our way. Mom and Dad couldn't afford to pay for it.
Then, when I graduated from high school, I went to Bible college, and learned more.
Whenever I have life questions, I do not go to preachers or other folks, but pull out a concordance and my Bible, and search for the answer.
Guess that pretty much explains why quoting Bible verses is easy for me.

I am convinced that many have Word documents ready and waiting to copy and paste from, or perhaps blog entries, notes in email, certain web pages bookmarked, etc etc etc.

Some would definitely come from Bible searches, which are pretty quick, and memorization to a point. But no one memorizes half a Yahoo Answers page of the Bible word for word, and as a former Christian... I would never have trusted my memory and would not have dared to risk making an error and misrepresenting the Bible.

It is called memmory. My children were all brought up in the Christian Day School. They had to memmorize every week many verses. It is good training. Also when you become a christian you can;'t help (what they call eating the word) that is getting all you can out of our Bible the Lord's word. Karen Reynolds

Go to www.e-sword.com and get excellent Bible software free. Just download it and install it. You'll get KJV Bible and Strong's concordance/dictionary with it. You can add other modules to it later if you want. It has an excellent search engine, and you can find verses lightening fast. Read all directions with help file before you start. We read our Bible, listen to the message in church and check it out in church to see if what is spoken as scripture is true. Our repetition at this and our using the Bible in research allows us to do this. For the Spirit of Christ brings scriptures to our minds and we are able to grab a-hold of them and look up in the Bible when necessary to find the words we are looking for that were written done in the Good Book.

Because they don't waste any time reading the question or truly thinking about the answers, They just regurgitate bible quotes like a bunch of religious parrots.
