John 3:16 is my favorite verse. The whole bible is pretty much summed up in that verse. That verse right there is everyones way into heaven. If you go to heaven God will ask why you deserve to live in eternity and you should be able to get in just by saying that one verse and maybe a little more.

It's one that Jesus said Himself in John 12:32.... I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me...... this verse really got to me, so I did a deep study on it, and found over a hundred similar to it, throughout the Bible. I read the whole chapter surrounding each of those verses, to make sure I wasn't reading them out of context. Also compared the words to the Greek and Hebrew languages found in Strong's. It was a long and tedious study, about a year or so. And it has led me in a new direction, that I have never went before. It has brang me more joy than I could ever have imagined.

I don't really think I could point out just one. The Bible in a whole has completely changed my life, and truth be told not one verse in the Bible could stand without the others. So, instead of a verse I would say the whole Bible has impacted the way I live my life and the way i veiw life in general.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding
in all your ways acknowledge Him
and He will direct your path

This verse has really shaped my life because any time I look to God for understanding instead of just relying on my own perspective, life seems much clearer. My selfishness vanishes, and the perspective of sacrificing myself for others is made stronger. That's why this is the best verse EVER : )

Joshua 24:15

"If you think it evil to serve God, then choose you this day who you will serve; whether the gods of your fathers from the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my household, we shall serve the LORD."

When I first gave my heart to the Lord about 25 years ago, it challenged me to be serious about having a relationship with the creator. It has strengthened me and given me resolve in raising my 4 children, one who is at Bible college right now, one who is studiing to be a teacher, one who serves on staff with a Christian organization, and one who works in a very public environment and who's walk is a glowing testimony of the Lord. Although I am a tradesman, my employer accepts the fact that I will not leave my Christianity at the door when I enter the building, and in the 17 years I have worked there I have always been considered his best employee, and God has allowed me to lead 6 co-workers to Christ. I have made my choice, and it is Jesus!

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
The reason this verse is important to me is because everytime Satan attacks me I always think of this verse. God is my strength and if I will just allow him to be the to take charge of my life, I cannot go wrong. This verse has helped me out a whole lot. Never to forget that God is there for me if only I have faith and to trust him with everything.

Great question because this one clarified my understanding of many things in life. That liberating verse is: "Whatsoever a man sows THAT shall he also reap" simply put, it means that we are the captains of our own ships and there is no puppet-master Deity pulling our strings arbitrarily --- it's us!!! ... our own thoughts and actions which we release like a boomerang which with a sure certainty returns to us...send out good thoughts and do good actions and you will have helped others and for sure have helped your own self. Do the opposite and you have only yourself to blame when it's time to pay the piper.

Mine is Reality 3:12:14

Thou shalt not continue to be oppressed by thine religion. Thou shalt treat all people with kindness and respect until they have lost it. Such as those that shall tell you that you live your life wrong because you don't believe in their religion, are the wrong sexual orientation, or actually think on your own.

I am writing my own Bible. It is called Wake Up and Think For Yourself: Why we are wasting our time worshipping the Great Space Boogeyman.

I think it is a catchy title

"Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses." (Ezekiel 23: 19-21)

"and lusted after her paramours there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose emission was like that of stallions." (Ezekiel 23: 21, NRSV)

The story of the sister whores, Aholah and Aholibah gives a moral lesson against the sins of the flesh. But why does God have to describe their adventures in such pornographic detail? Does God love porn?

What parent would want their children reading verse 21 about comparing the size of men's penises to donkey genitals and the sperm flow to that of horse issues?

As any adult religious parent might believe, such lustful descriptions, if culled from secular sources, would corrupt children should they happen to read them. Should it not also corrupt children if read from the Bible?
