I think most that replied feel you are doing very good job of parenting.

One thing you might try as an alternative to spanking ..... when she disobeys or does something wrong .... another effective form of discipline can be to take away a favorite toy or activity that they enjoy. This way she would still learn her misbehaving has negative consequences, but she wouldn't associate mommy with physical pain.

Talking is better than spanking though. No matter what the circumstances are, good communication is always better. What happens when parents spank their kids, is that the kids build a tolerance for it, and then the spanking has to get harder and harder, and eventually, you'll just be abusing your daughter.

I'm not saying that kids don't deserve a good spanking once in a while, but when things can be fixed with a good talking and a good time out or punishment, a spanking is just a waste of energy and unnecessary.

As a child from divorced parents i would say keep up your routine. kids will play thier parents against eah other. talk to your ex about this situation. he may be feeling guilty about not seeing her all the time and this may be his way of over compinsating. I know it hurts when dhe says she loves daddy more. spanking is not a bad thing. i now have four children of my own, my husband and i use spanking as a last resort. if more parents disciplined thier children instead of "talking" the world would be a better place. good luck and don't listen to all of the other people saying you are wrong to spank.

Hunny,I have no idea what people are saying to you,but....I've spanked my children(3girls)from the time they were toddlers just getting into things.I have very good children.Growing up to be wonderful young ladies. My home is always full of young teens. The ones that come over know how strict I am.Once they get past the age of about 4,you've lost any control with them if you haven't been disciplining them.Should you leave bruises and marks...NO.I almost always used my hand. The best of luck to you.I am a firm believer if you don't spank them your hurting them.

Spanking is PHYSICAL ABUSE. Call the police department in your town and tell them what you are doing if you think this is right. Don't try to justify child abuse. There is no reason on this God given earth to raise you hand up to a child. Even if you do it to an adult you'll go to ail. Think about it. You need help. STOP SPANKING YOUR CHILDS.

Try time out and maybe taking a favorite toy away for punishment. Consistency is the key. Respond right away. Always explain things before and after. Always reward good behavior.
