People who don't stop at stop signs. People who block intersections or driveways. People who don't use their blinkers. People who don't turn their blinkers off after switching lanes. People who refuse to let you in the lane. People who refuse to get in the lane when you slow down to give them space. And especially the people that cut you off after you have given them the space and eventually have to get back to the correct speed. Why do they always choose that moment to decide to get in the lane?!?!?

Tailgaters, and only because they are a major safety hazard. I get rid of them, though. I pull the emergency brake. That way they get the sudden shock of watching that gap close up without the warning from the brake lights. Most tailgaters, although they are stupid, are quick learners. They know that if they hit me, I will own them. After one pull, they stay way back. Some are more stupid than others. They take two pulls, but they do get it the second time. I have never had one take more than two pulls. For the most part, I can drive the 25 miles to work in rush hour traffic without being annoyed, because I tune out everyone else's bad driving and stay far enough back from the car in front of me that I don't have to deal with the aggravation of his lame stop and go driving. On the road, you can do one of two things. You can stoop to the level of the idiots and let them annoy you, or you can rise above them by seeking ways to avoid stress and get to work relaxed. I choose relaxed every day. I take a Taoist approach to driving. While I won't take the time to explain it here, if you read "The Tao of Pooh" you will get the idea.

Ah, hippiechick, I know what you're saying. Those folks should be on country roads instead of the freeway but they probably figure, "...if y'all rearend me, it's gonna be your fault, y'all". I guess all you can do is, when you know a busy entrance is coming up, move over if you can. Take care of yourself, hippiechick. The best way to drive seems to be to act as if no one out there knows how to drive -- in other words, drive defensively. Be careful out there.
At least we like our jobs; some people would answer, "the most annoying thing about driving to work is getting there".

I like my drive to work, it's simple and quick. However the most annoying thing is that I have to wait ten hours to start the return trip. It too is pleasant and quick. I guess I should be grateful that I have a job to drive too, but damn I really enjoy that drive.
