I was just wondering 'cause I have small ears and it seems my ears hurt when exposed to certain sounds...like when someone slams a car door shut when I'm sitting in the car...

size got nothing to do with sensitivity. try getting out of the car before the door is slammed

i don't think small ears would be as sensitive as large ears... if you think about it... large ears are more open and cover more space...i.e. they let more sounds in.... so i don't think people w/ small ears are more secsitive to sound!

As per physics it should get hold of less sound. Your irritation may be due to other reason

i have small ears and i hear very well
