something that, in case you lose him or they runaway, won't be embarrassing to yell out loud! don't name him "Fool" because that's what you'll look like yelling it out at the top of your lungs walking down the street.
try something that makes the name personal to you. if you're into a hobby, maybe a term used in that. ( i have a friend whose parrot is named "Squeegee", 'cause he's a window cleaner.) maybe a character from a book or movie that you liked. another friend of mine has a dog called "Captain Jack Sparrow" & if you knew him, you'd know why. how about your favorite color? (o.k., maybe not if you're into "goth". can't see yelling out, "Black, oh, Black! where are you?" would at the very least cause some confusion!) maybe something exotic, like a name in a different language.
you'll know when you get to the right name 'cause it will make you smile everytime you use it!

The dog's name should be two syllables and end with a vowel. You should do this because most tricks/commands you teach your dog is only one syllable. Give your dog a name that sticks out, that no other dog has.

I have always found it easier to name a pet after you have brought him/her home. A name will come to you as you see their personality come out. I have two dogs chihuahua, one is named Tiffany the other is Gizmo. Their names do not have to go togeather.
