My daughter was about three years old and I put her in her high chair while I cooked dinner so I knew where she was.Between me, my husband and our son we would hand her items to eat or chew on. She loved everything. One night she started coughing and sneezing so bad and she couldn't stop. We rushed her to the E.R. The doctor looked at her and started pulling items out her nose and BOTH ears. Evidendly when we were not watching her, she shoved things where she shouldn't have. The doctor said, "oh my, I feel like a magician. Watch this". He pulled out small pieces of macoroni, Froot Loops, Cherrios, tiny bits of various fruit, small pieces of bread and cookies. Then he looked at us and said, "I'll bet she will hear a lot better now."
I was so embarrassed I could have cried. Thank goodness the doctor said it happens all the time.

It wasn't in her nose but her mouth...and it wasn't actually funny, I flipped! We were in a public bathroom and when I turned around to lock the stall door, that was enough time for my two year old girl at the time to grab something from the trash can. When I turned around she had a used tampon in her mouth! I flipped out. I took soap and water and washed her hands, face and mouth. I even put hand sanitizer on her tongue! Thank God she never got sick or anything from that! Now I am especially careful when I take my 20 month old daughter to the bathroom with me!

My daughter went through a phase recently where she was sticking things in her nose. Mostly food like corn, peas, noodles...anything she could get to fit. My husband and I would joke that she was sticking so many things so far up her nose, they were going to get into her brain. We said, "Watch - she'll get older and find she can't learn math or something because that part of her brain has been damaged by peas."

When my son was a few months old, his sister who was 3 at the time stuck watermelon seeds up his nose and in his ears. I rushed to the doctor and their entire office couldn't stop laughing. My son was just fine and my daughter cried for hours for getting caught!

well, not my kid but my little brother, about 15 years ago (i don't know if they still make it) they made these little potpourri balls about the size of a pea, well my brother got one, and he put it in his nose and then shot it out he thought it was a real fun game until it got stuck! I remember him crying, "mom I can't stand this smell any longer, get it out! I can't smell anything else!"

It wasn't my kid, but my nextdoor neighboors daughter.
She stuck the little piece on a hole puncher that punches the holes all the way up her nose.
They had to go to the emergency room to get it removed!

Red Hots candies...about three of them. I think there were at least one or two more that ended up falling out BEFORE we figured out something was wrong. The worst part was the runny snot that was coming out was pinkish and we really had no idea why. We had to take him to the emergency room to have them removed. Uhg.

It wasn't his nose, but his ear.
He stuck a kernel of popcorn in his ear. When the ER doc asked him why he did it, he answered "To hide it from my evil older brother." He was four at the time.
