Willow is a 6 month old Golden Retriever. She finished all her needles at 20 weeks of age. She gets Sentinel (for worms and fleas) every month. My bf thought maybe ringworm. Could it be that and if so what would cause it? She's been going to the dog park and clicker training.

Does not sound like ringworm, ringworm usually causes hairloss with some redness and scaling. Some dogs get darkened skin areas from chronic irritation such as licking or infections. Best bet is just to take the dog in when you get a chance.

This could be ringworm. It would look like a ciggarette burn and could cause her hair to fall out. It also will spread quickly and needs to be taken care of. It is highly contagious and can easily pass to you. If it does, go to the pharmacy and get the product, Lamisil (ask the pharmacist to be sure because only one type of fungicide works for this).
As for Willow, she needs to go to the vet immediately. She will need a series of lime/sulfur dips to get rid of ringworm. Probably about 5 dips (a dip is just a special kind of bath). Willow could have gotten the fungus from another dog at the park or at puppy classes or a stray cat.

I'm not a vet or anything but the same happened to my dog when she was a pup. It turned out she was going into heat for the first time. I felt foolish when I brought her to the vet because I thought something was seriously wrong. I'd take her to the vet to make sure she is ok. It really is the best bet. Good luck.

Maybe fungi got in her at the park, or it can just be a mole/birthmark. Talk to her vet.

I would wonder about other puppy skin problems such as pyoderma first, but only a thorough exam with a veterinarian will truly be helpful.
