All I can tell you, that may help, is that math is kind of like a puzzle, as many things are. You put bits and pieces together to come up with an end result, a product; as in a picture with a puzzle. 2+3=5, The picture 5 is made up of the two pieces 2 and 3. The puzzle can be a lot more difficult then that; but, if you take it as a game, such as a puzzle, it can become fun. You have to figure out how to put the pieces together.
As for word problem, the key thing is to write down the figures and then figure out where to add, subtract, multiply, or divide. That's what basic math really is, using those four things; adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing.
There is one guarantee; If you study you will be able to get it and understand it. However, you do have to apply yourself.
Sorry, that's the kind of thing you really can't make easier or good. You gotta study!
