no ground meat should never be eaten raw. a lightly seared almost raw piece of meat is ok. it will kill the bacteria that is naturally found on the outside.

Personally, trying it doesn't seem like the best idea, but it's all in your preference in how you want to feed your pets. The dog should be fine as long as the meat hasn't been sitting out, allowing bacteria or anything to grow on it. Many dogs seem to like raw meat, and there are even raw food diets out there for animals. Dogs have different digestive systems than humans, and eat strange and dead things all the time in the wild. They may have to adjust to the change if they're not used to raw food, however, and could get gassy at first.

You can feed them raw meat and they will not become ill because of the raw food. However, because it is a dietary change they may spend a little time getting used to the food. They may be gassy and have soft stool.
Its best to mix in a little vegtable matter and let them have some raw bones.
The diet where you feed dogs raw food is called the barf diet.
P.S. as for bacteria, these are dogs not humans. They have a completely different digestive system capable of handling different (higher) levels of bacteria.

I have always given my dogs raw ground meat. They are wolfs.
I grind my own meat and mix in 2 raw eggs and a 1/4 to a 1/2 a cup of olive oil.

Yes, but not in large amounts. I would not feed them more than about a teaspoon at a time. Is there some reason why you can't put it in a microwave or cook it for them? Boiled hamburger and plain cooked white rice is great for dogs with upset stomachs, or the runs.

Actually a Vet. recommended that I give a female Pit bull raw hamburger when she had an upset stomach. She kept vomiting and having the diarrhea so he told me to give her 2lbs. of raw hamburger once a day for several days.

yes but it is not recommended. if they were wild that is what they would live off of but ground beef can have a lot more bugs(germs) in it. it can sometimes be a bad thing. if you do feed it to them make sure it is fresh and has the highest fat content. dogs are differnt from poeple so they don't need the low fat stuff. and make sure you feed them a good potion of dog food too. just be careful. some dogs are very sensitive and adding something to their diet could mess they stomachs up pretty bed

you can feed your dog raw hamburger without any problems. matter of fact, raw meat is the natural food for dogs. dog food is not that old. before 1940 or so, dogs only ate raw meat and table food. remember, dogs are really wolfs and they eat all raw meat. i feed my dogs raw meat every day. i do not give commercial dog food. it is bad for them. try it. they will love a soup bone or a raw peace of meat. bones, (knuckles) will keep their teeth clean and breath smelling good. raw meat is a natural food for dogs. we just have been re-trained by the media to feed our dogs otherwise. have fun with your dog...and may he live a long live!!!

NO it contains to much bacteria. I feed my dogs cooked ground turkey in loaf pan with vegetables mixed in and gave them a little of it over their dry food. how many dogs in the wild do you see chasing cattle. most of them go for smaller prey. but eating raw foods cary disease and they dont live as long as your domesticated pet.
