Last night I went to the bathroom and realized my 6 month old golden retriever was sleeping in the hall instead of in my bedroom. I went to rouse her and she didn't respond. I thought she was dead. I carried her into the bedroom and put her on her pillow and she responded slightly.

my dog does that too. he is an eight year old springer spaniel and i think his tongue is too big for his mouth. when he sleeps, his mouth is open and his tongue lays on the ground and gets all dried up. we have company over a lot and without fail, someone always says "hey i think your dog is dead."

Is she home alone all day sleeping? If she is then you have to make sure you tire her out when you get home. Is she crate trained? If not, I'd crate her at nite and put the crate in my room with a towel over it so she knows you're there and you can just hush her and put your fingers in the crate. Don't forget this is only an 8 week old baby too so you haven't had her long enough to have established a routine yet. When she gets used to you and the house and the new stuff, then she'll calm down. You're in for a long ride here so just be patient and loving and remember she's yours til death do u part so relax and enjoy her. Puppyhood seems like it lasts forever and then it's over and you find yourself longing for it again.

yea, Sometimes after we play hard he goes to sleep and is just completely crashed. I use it as an opportunity to work on crate training and transfer him in. I let him out right when he wakes up or after he has been asleep for a long time and I know he will wake up when the door opens. He wakes up and realizes he was sleeping in his crate and it didn't kill him.

it happens all the time with my dogs.
my 3 year old mutt plays so hard she eventually collapses from exhaustion. its very cute :-)
my 7 year old rescued greyhound sleeps so soundly you can hardly see his ribs moving. a couple of times i made him wake up just so i could be sure he was still alive. he sometimes even sleeps with his eyes open which is really creepy coz he's just laying there with open eyes hardly breathing. he's really good at sacaring me half to death.

Yeah, it has happened several times to me with my dogs over the years. With my husband too, thought he was not breathing.
