I have an American bulldog. He's about 3months now. I love him. He's very playful and good with kids. I have noticed that he can't take the heat or direct sun exposure for too long. Probably has something to do with the breeds short snout. Other than a few minor problems (house training and walking down steps) I have no complaints.

Hip dysplasia is fairly common in German Shepherds, and can be heart-breaking if you aren't prepared to treat it. But, they are very smart and very trainable.
Often, Huskies are rather independent and need to be on a leash in any situation where they could get away from you. Very sweet, though.
I would check local laws before getting an American Bulldog. Thanks to breed specific legislation, even a beautifully trained dog can put you in legal difficulty and make it nearly impossible to get homeowner's insurance in some cities.
Somebody answered that Huskies are dangerous, and that isn't necessarily true. German Shepherds actually rank much higher in bite incidents. Any dog that isn't well-socialized can become a biter.

i at one point wanted a husky. they remind me of a wolf, but one of my friends has 7 dogs. all rescued, but they told me as much as they love that husky that he is the hardest one to take care of. in the summer he is hot and sheds a lot, but he needs lots of exercise, and he is the only one of the seven that they cannot take off the leash because he will run and never come back. they also have a german shepard and she good, but she barks a lot and thinks that she deserves more attention than the other dogs. and ignore the fact that the one person said about the huskies being aggressive definatly not true. it really just depends on you, do you have a lot of time for training? if not i would suggest a german shepard, they are one of the smartest (i think, collies are definaly the smartest) huskies are the most ignorant and are nearly impossible to train if you dont have the time to spend with them. sorry i couldnt give you any info on the bulldog because i never had any experience with them. they seem like awsome dogs too. maybe you should go to a personal dog trainer tell them what your situation is and see just wat breed they recomend. hope i helped a little. good luck

All three ahve their pros and cons. Germans can be aggressive, huskies can suffer from severe separation anxiety and they howl an awful lot, and bulldogs tend to have bad respiratory problems. BUT, germans are also very loyal and playful, huskies as well, and bulldogs make great pets for those that are a little laid back. It really depends on you. Don't get a dog based on its personality, get a dog based on yours. Also you have to look at its environment. Huskies and shepards need room to run, while a bulldog needs a smaller area. Keep in mind all three are very strong dogs. I hope this helped.

I'd say German Shepherd!! They are great dogs they are just like a best friend and a bodyguard. They are very smart dogs. They also train well and will never turn on you. American Bulldogs are bad news in my case every one I've owned or knew people who have them have bad results. They turn on people no matter who you are or how you train them. They are not nice. A vet told me that they are the same as a pittbull but I don't know for sure. But they do seem that mean.

I am partial to huskys because my grandparents owned husky crosses all my life (husky/shepperd, husky/wolf) . they have always been good with children and visitors, although this often has to do with the owners, not the breed.
I have to agree with the above answer, also, to adopt a pet from a shelter. I know my local spca lets you take a dog out for a day to see how the dog likes your family, and they have a 30 day return policy, just incase you are incompatible.

of the three you listed the German Shepherd is likely the best pick. I have a 2 good friends who are very fond of that breed. They like it for the intelligence and trainability. If you think about it, since they make good police dogs, they have to be smart.

I have had family that had a husky. The only major thing I know about them, is I would be careful regarding your climate. If is is very warm, the dog might have difficulty with the heat... their coats are so thick....

These are very different breeds of dogs. First things is to know what you are wanting in your dog. I myself am a big fan of the bulldog. But is not for everyone.

We have a German Shepherd, good dog, smart, intelligent (thinks she is human), drawback-only 4 yrs old, doesn't show to us, but the vet is already seeing signs of hip dysplasia (spelling), the breed is very prone to this disease, will have to start predisone shots soon.
