i have long dark brown hair and its boring and i need a new style...what color should i dye my hair or cut it?

I would suggest keeping your base color (which sounds beautiful) and add some caramel highlights.
As far as style, it depends on the length you want to keep it.
If you wanted to keep it long, I would suggest adding a face framing angle and keeping your layers long (starting below the chin) just to give the hair a little movement.
If you are thinking about getting daring and trying something quite a bit shorter, a stacked bob is fun!

Don't bother to dye it. You only find brown boring because it has been brown so long. Once you change it, it will only be a matter of time before you find it boring again. Anyway dark hair is nice, and natural color is always better.

first of all, if your hair is thick, you should straighten it or curl it. I have a Chi Straightener and it works WONDERS on my hair. If you just have a bad hair day (which I have too...) get a clip at Target! They have a TON of cute things for not a whole lot of money. What I do, is make a low ponytail and twist my hair a few times, then pull it up and then fasten it with a clip. It looks really cool if you're in a rush.
Highlights, yes, are always a GREAT option. I have subtle highlights to make my hair honey-blonde. Naturally, it's dishwater blonde. Just remember, NEVER permanently straighten your hair!

Add red or blonde to it. Red and brown looks great together or adding some blonde will change it a lot. You could try a shoulder length cut or even a shorter cut if you are really wanted dramatic change.
